Facebook Ad Library (otherwise known as Meta Ad Library, or Fb Ad Library) is one of the most important tools for marketers to gather inspiration, new ideas, research competitors, and much more. That being said, it still has some hiccups. You can’t centralize your favorite ads in one place within the Ad Library, and you can only view ads from one brand at a time. You also can’t save anything, you can only see ads that brands are currently running. If they change the ad, you don’t see the old one.
This big problem begs the question, how can I download photo and video ads from Facebook Ad Library?
Step 1: Find the ads you want to save from Facebook Ad Library
Head to facebook.com/ads/library/ and find an ad that you want to save. In this case, we’re going to save an ad from a brand we love to draw inspiration from, Magic Spoon.
Done - we love this “Do you miss cereal” thought path, so we’re going to save this video, but this also works with photos or carousels. Anything that's on Facebook Ad Library can be saved.
Step 2: Copy the Ad Link, and bring it to Foreplay.co
Click the “...” in the top right corner of the ad you want to save and hit the ‘Copy ad link’ button. Now, we can bring this over to Foreplay- what we’ll use to save this ad from Facebook Ad Library.
Once you’ve made a free Foreplay account, just hit the + New Ad button in the top right hand corner, when the box appears, enter the URL to the ad you want to save (you can do 5 at a time!)
While saving the link is great, it's even easier to save ads using our Chrome Extension. Once it's downloaded, ads on Facebook Ad Library will now have a "Save to Foreplay" button, that will allow you to instantly send ads straight to your Foreplay boards:
Step 3 (optional): Share your saved ads
Boom! Just like that, your ad is saved. Foreplay will also save the ads copy, CTA type, link, and url will also let you download the file locally to your computer.
Foreplay doesn’t stop there - this tool is built from the ground up for collaboration. You can share boards with clients or colleagues quickly and easily. To do it, just hit the “Share” button in the top right. This will create a unique link to your board that you can share.
When you share your Foreplay boards, the person you’re sharing with does not need a Foreplay account.
